III. Teaching procedures
Step 1: Revision and warming up
Watch a video about something scary. Ask students: What did you use to be afraid of? Are you still afraid? During the talk, present the new words: seldom, fail the examination, be proud of, exactly.
设计意图：通过一个视频不仅把学生的注意力集中起来，拉近师生的距离，也能直接导入一些新词汇，直接有效。Step 2: Before reading
Present the tit le of the passage and ask students to guess what Li Wen use to be like in the past?
Tell more inform ation about him and guess what problems might he have.
设计意图：通过对文章标题的猜测，既能激发学生发言的激情，让学生能积极参与课堂，又能起到预读的作用。
Step 3: Reading
1. Read the pass age qu ickly and underline the problems Li Wen used to have.
2. Read and pu t the sentences in the correct places. (tell them to use the context)
3. Read an d gues s the meaning of the words. (tell them to use the context)
4. Read and fill in chart, then retell.
5. Find out the sentences that can show his parents love him.
设计意图：从略读到细读，并利用 上下文对词义 的猜测，了解文章大意，理清文章脉络，从表面的理解到深层的理解，培养学生快速阅读文本找寻信息的能力。
Step 4: After reading
1. T: What do you t hink Li Wen and his parents talked about in their conversation?
Ask student s to w rite in groups of four and then role play the conversation.
